Aqua One's 3c Carbon and Wool Cartridge is an essential part of the filtration system of quite a number of Aqua One aquariums, including: AquaStyle 620, AquaStyle 620T and AquaMode 900.

The 3c Cartridges performs two very important funtions in the aquarium. Firstly, the high quality Aqua One Activated Carbon both purifies and clarifies the aquarium water, removing discolouration and odours, whilst the Polymer Wool layer on top not only protects the carbon from becoming clogged, the fine wool traps the very smallest particles of aquarium debris / waste.

Change every 6 weeks

You'll see from the video below that the 3c cartridge can become very dirty in the aquarium filter system, working hard to trap unwanted waste matter and it's clear that this cannot be rinsed successfully and must be replaced with a fresh 3c cartridge.

Equally, it's important to note that the Activated Carbon Particles in the 3c will have become completely used up within 4 to 6 weeks, as the carbon granules will have absorbed their full capacity of unwanted impurities in this time and for this reason too, the 3c cartridge must be replaced with a brand new one.

Easy to install, low maintenance

It's really easy to replace the 3c Carbon and Wool Cartridge in your aquarium and this is one of the many great aspects of Aqua One's award winning trickle filtration system. Our recommendation is that the 3c cartridge is inserted over inbetween the Black Sponge and the Ceramic BioNoodles for best performance, which may be slightly different to the instruction manual. 3c Cartridges are extremely easy to install and maintain, but it's always worth checking the condition of the 3c once every couple of weeks to ensure that it's not become completely clogged with aquarium debris.
