Aqua One supply BioNood Ceramic Cylinders with most of their aquariums and canister filter ranges because of their excellent biological filtration capability. Ceramic Noodles are produced by superheating ceramic material until it becomes extremely porous, massively increasing it's surface and so providing a perfect environment on which to culture beneficial nitrifying bacteria. This "good" bacteria helps to keep your aquarium biologically balanced and in check.

However, if you have an aquarium or canister filter setup that is already established, then simply change a few of the dirtiest BioNoodles every few weeks or with every water change, to allow for colonisation of bacteria from the old media onto the new. It's easy to see which Ceramic Noodles the ones to change as they will be the most discoloured.

Aqua One's filter media is well known in the fishkeeping world for it's quality and whether it's Ceramic Noodles or other loose filter media you can be sure that it will get to work for you straight away in your aquarium. As ever, if your setup is already established then make sure to change filter media in stages, maybe a week or so apart so as not to upset the biological balance of your tank.
