Filter Tap Set for Advance 1050 / 1250 from Aqua One - (11798)
This is a genuine and original specification replacment Filter Tap Set for Advance 1050 / 1250 manufactured by Aqua One for use with Advance 1050 and Advance 1250 external canister filters and will restore performance, should your filter taps have started to leak, or otherwise have failed.
Advance 1050, 1250 canister filter inlet and outlet taps work extremely hard dealing with thousands of litres of water per hour in your Advance 1050, 1250 filter. For this reason we recommmend that you always keep a spare Filter Tap Set just in case you have an issue. Doing so will prevent emergencies, turning them into inconveniencies instead.
Keep a spare Filter Tap Set
It's both smart and inexpensive to keep a spare Filter Tap Set set and this will help to head off unforeseen emergencies should your original Filter Tap Set fail unexpectedly. Having a backup tap set will help avoid unecessary downtime of your external filter. The Filter Tap Set for Advance 1050 / 1250 is an official Aqua One spare, identical to the filter tap set that came with your canister filter when new.
Filter Pump Maintenance
Once a month, (or sooner if you notice reduced waterflow) remove the impeller cover and check that the Filter Tap Set isn't blocked with aquarium waste and that it can spin freely. Pipework and filter taps should be checked once a month to ensure that there are no blockages restricting waterflow and it's also good policy to check the condition of the filter media pads on a regular basis as these can sometimes become clogged with use. Rinse both Blue and Black sponges in a little aquarium water and replace Polymer Wool Pads as necessary, usually every 4 to 6 weeks.
Replacing the Filter Tap Set
Changing the filter tap sets on your Advance 1050 and Advance 1250 is easy to do without much mess, but do have a towel on hand just in case, as well as a bucket. Firstly, unplug your canister from the mains and then turn off both the inlet and outlet taps. Start to unscrew the taps from the elbow connectors that are attached to the canister filter to separate the taps.
Now, remove pipework from the aquarium and empty the remaining water in to the bucket. Next, remove the filter taps from the hoses by unscrewing the collars and set them aside. The new filter taps come complete with collars and are also marked "in" and "out" for easy reconnection. You should now be ready to connect the filter taps to the filter itself, once again using the integral collars. Once you're satisfied that everything is tight and ready to go, reverse the process and you'll be up and running. For Aquis filters you may need to use the primer to remove trapped air, although rocking the canister gently from side to side is can also be effective.
